artCTRL
A downloadable project
You’ve always said you could be a great artist. Now’s your chance.
—
artCTRL is an alternative game controller that turns a paint palette and brush into a functional digital input device.
The palette features four “paint” colors, each made from two strips of copper tape wired to a USB joystick board. The brush is coated in conductive paint. When the brush taps both strips of a color at once, it completes a circuit, triggering one of four inputs, like pressing a button.
artCTRL invites players to control any game using only a brush. It’s simple, responsive, and works surprisingly well in everything from painting games like Become a Great Artist in Just 10 Seconds to classics like Mario or Pac-Man.
How to Use:
-
Hold the palette. Grip the brush.
-
Tap a color with the brush to trigger a button press.
Congratulations! You’re an artist.
